Michael Rogerson (Artistic Director)

Michael is a Brooklyn based director and producer. For Silencio, he directed Enda Walsh’s Disco Pigs and the Chicago premiere of Marius von Mayenburg’s The Dog, the Night, and the Knife — he also produced the Chicago premiere of Christopher Chen’s Home Invasion. He recently directed his first short film — All the Way Down This Time — which was written by Silencio founding member Sophie Neff. At Northwestern University he directed site-specific productions of Jean Genet’s The Maids and Phillip Ridley’s Mercury Fur, as well as Kori Alston’s Pledge of Allegiance (The History of America), which was part of the Agnes Nixon Playwrighting Festival. He is a graduate of Northwestern University, where he received a dual degree in Theatre and English Literature.

Tom DeFranciso (Actor/Founding Member)

Tommy DeFrancisco is an actor, musician, and amateur astronomer. He graduated Northwestern University in 2016 along with many other members of the Silencio community. His work with Silencio includes performances in both productions of Disco Pigs, as well as The Dog, the Night, and the Knife. He currently lives in Portland, Maine and is pursuing certification to become a pilot. He likes to play tabletop roleplaying games, practice traditional archery, and dabble in classic Italian cooking.

 

Sean Gundersen (Designer/Founding Member)

Sean Gundersen is a Chicago area actor, director, designer and founding member of Silencio. He designed space & lights for Silencio’s productions of The Dog, the Night, and the Knife and Disco Pigs (v. 1/2). At Northwestern University he directed world-premiere productions Moon & Back, Concentric, and Next Level--which he took to the Georgetown Theatre Festival in Penang, Malaysia. You can find him slung in a hammock in Humboldt Park during the summertime or bundled up next to a bonfire in the wintertime.

 

Sophie Neff (Actor/Founding Member)

Sophie is an actor, filmmaker, and founding company member of Silencio. Recent company credits include the Chicago production of Disco Pigs and All The Way Down, This Time, Silencio’s first film project and her first foray into screenwriting. Since then she’s started an ongoing filmmaking lab based out of Los Angeles. She’s thrilled to return to the stage, so to speak, in the upcoming site-specific production of Gundog.

 

Collin Quinn Rice (Movement Director/Founding Member)

Collin Quinn Rice (they/them) is a queer actor, choreographer, and photographer based in Chicago. They were most recently seen in Laced, Le Switch(About Face Theatre), The Tasters (Rivendell), All Quiet on the Western Front (Red Tape Theatre), Mike Pence Sex Dream (First Floor Theater), The Harvest(Griffin Theatre Co.), Hatfield & McCoy (The House), Masque Macabre (Strawdog Theatre Company), Going to a Place… (Redtwist Theatre), The Ode at Pint's End (Birch House Immersive), and The Hilary Duff Project (MCL Chicago). Regional credits include From on High (OddKnock Productions, Denver). TV/Film credits include Work in Progress, The Right Swipe, and The Play Cycle. For Silencio, they movement directed Disco Pigs and The Dog, the Night, and the Knife. Collin is a graduate of Northwestern University, and they are represented by DDO Chicago. Anna White (Illustrator/Graphic Designer)

Anna is an artist, writer, and musician currently based in Chicago. She has designed the posters for Silencio's Disco Pigs, Home Invasion, The Dog, The Night, and The Knife and Gundog, as well as the accompanying zine companion to The Dog, The Night, and The Knife. When not making visual art, Anna plays bass in a band called PINKSQUEEZE and writes for publications such as Bandcamp Daily.

 

Sammy Zeisel (Director)

Sammy Zeisel is a director of film and theatre currently based in New Haven, CT and Brooklyn, NY. After graduating from Northwestern University in 2014, Sammy remained in Chicago where he directed and developed work with The Passage (All One: The Dr. Bronner's Play by Beth Hyland), The Neighborhood (The Late Wedding by Christopher Chen), The Actors Gymnasium (The Final Space Adventure of Ham and Wiley), Windy City Playhouse (Rumple with Friends of the Bog), Steppenwolf Look Out (Meatball Séance with John Michael Colgin) and, of course, Silencio (Home Invasion by Christopher Chen). He also has directed three short films, including Cheese Shop which won Best Chicago Director at the Windy City International Film Festival in 2018 and a recently completed film written by Beth Hyland entitled Clambake. He has assisted a number of directors including Les Waters, Lee Sunday Evans, Meredith McDonough, Devon de Mayo, Marti Lyons, Jessica Thebus, and Michael Patrick Thornton and spent nine months as a directing apprentice at Actors Theatre of Louisville. Sammy is honored to call Silencio one of his artistic homes. He is currently pursuing an MFA in directing at the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale University.
